It was a nice trip, not too much boat traffic or wind. It's all granite, so not much is going to collapse any time soon. Some of the officers qtrs are in bad shape, but fun to poke around. The stairs are gone so you gotta haul yourself up the wall but there are a couple holes in the sheetrock for the purpose. There's also a cannon up on top marked 1864. Like Boston and Newport all the island in Portland have forts on them, we ran out of daylight and the tide changed or we woulda hit up a couple more. Maybe next time :)

Did you see the cannon barrel sticking out of the ground on the top / barbette tier?  Its half buried.

Yep! I actually came around it the "wrong" way so I stumbled upon it before I continued and saw they had a sign pointing the way to it. I wish I coulda grabbed it, but I don't think the kayak could handle it. Maybe next time  :wacko:
