Pics from my Ladd trip last year

heading to ladd

Way creepy. I cant wait to go.

Nice bike.

thanks. sorry I keep missing you on aim, thats on my computer at my parents house, and i live with my girlfriend.

Nice photos. I'll unload some of my own. Photos taken between Winter 07-09

Hey Carbon-  I've been interested in checking out The Ladd- Whats the deal getting past security?  I scouted it out last week but there were huge signs on both sides of the road that said Trespassing and that violators will be prosecuted.

My in-laws live on william reynolds- its the road on the back side of ladd. Last time i checked with them, "locals" could still go walking there without worry. I know that they're building a new Fire Fighter training station and i dont know if they've changed that policy. The buildings are officially off-limits but there are always ways in. Hiding your car will be an issue. I suggest parking on william reynolds or at the Pizza place on rt 2 and walking in.

During both our trips to Ladd we've seen locals walking dogs, but never any security.  However when we went on our first trip Job Corps wasn't completely built yet so we were able to go about without worrying about our car or any of that.  The last trip, we parked on William Reynolds Rd.

Awesome Thanks!!  I was definitely thinking of walking in...seems way safer

ive heard people get mugged there so be aware

Yes, someone did post here that some friends of theirs got mugged at Ladd, also someone who got arrested but they never updated us on their court case or anything.

I did read the story of the group of kids getting mugged there.....  Horrific bad luck for that group.  No one is immune to bad luck but being a little older I would fear security and the state police much more than a group of "gangsters".

Someone had their car broken into as well. It was in the newspaper a year or so ago. I had also heard about some kids being threatened with a baseball bat. The muggers stole everything of value and then took off. Shitty

Its crazy to think that Ladd would be a good hideout for gangbangers especially with the cops keeping such a close eye on it.

I'm not so sure the cops really keep an eye on that place.  Maybe at night.  During the day the place is really dead except for one building at the northern end of the complex where people work (appears to be an office building of some sort.)

I think someone mentioned the possibility of the thugs being from job corps, seeing as they live right there.

Whenever I go to a location with cops or security its at night.  Obviously I think it would be better in the day but I just think its such a bold move if you have a chance at getting nailed.

I don't explore at night anymore, the photography aspect sucks.  Did a lot of exploring at night in 2003 but realized it's pretty difficult to find new locations at night LOL

During the day is ballsy, but totally doable, ESPECIALLY Ladd.  I've only done Ladd during the day.  NSH I did both during day and night, but that was 12 years ago and security was much different.

Think of it this way: if you don't have a vehicle of yours nearby to give you away, no one will be looking for you.  This is true for almost every location, except NSH.  Especially once you're inside.  (Also a reason not to explore alone, you won't be found for a while if something were to happen and you got injured etc.)  Take care not to be seen entering anywhere you go and you'll be fine.  Except at NSH...those crazy security guards are freaking psychic.

I guess its just the fact that its state police on the grounds and I think they'd be more apt to chase me through the woods than some ordinary security guard.   If you get busted with a crowbar can they charge you with B&E  even if you haven't done anything yet?

I think a crowbar is the difference misdemeanor and felony, or at the very least between simple trespass and criminal trespass.  Or possession of other so-called burglary tools.

Haha ok good to know, I have a real cheap crowbar and its of no consequence for me to lose it somewhere.

Had a great trip to a location that I had been hoping to get into for a little while.  I brought a crowbar but unlike on a previous failed attempt, someone had recently smashed a window and I was able to gain access without breaking anything myself.   I'm not sure how to post the pictures on here though.

I think you have to host them elsewhere or you might be able to upload them when you make a post (Insert Image) but for some reason if you do that they're only visible in internet explorer and not firefox.

OK cool i'll put them on FLICKR after my next trip(which will be my last to this locale)so that they are all together.

He bought that??  Did he ask you if you noticed the 2 gigantic trespassers will be prosecuted signs on either side of the road?

who knows...guess he had bigger fish to fry!  lucky for me

lol if you go the back way into Ladd you pass by no signs.  You can drive right in via a dirt road on the south side (School Landwoods Rd) and I don't believe you pass any signs that way.  Don't know if it's still dirt because it's been a few years lol.

I'm thinking going in on foot would be the best way to go.  I can't think of any legit excuse to give a statie as to why I would be driving around there at night 45 minutes from home.  There is nothing around there but farms.  I'm stating the obvious here but since were approaching Halloween I'd imagine there would be a greater than usual number of idiot kids trying to get in there, and I'm sure the cops are aware of this as well.

School land woods road is still dirt. Exeter has no money and prefers to stay in the 18th century. Both entrances have signs now with the new fire training center being built.

wheres the new fire thing being built at?
and forget the signs lol. if i obeyed every sign i saw i wouldnt have a video of my car doign 160 and still pulling, i wouldnt have gone to NSH every day of 2008 and i wouldnt have started this thread either. :)

Its being built in the field north of fogarty.
