Artifacts at sites

Personally, one of the coolest things at sites are forgotten relics.  They could be huge machines or cars, or as small as buttons and marbles.  If you want to mention anything cool that you've found at a site, just post it here!

I collect bottles, which I occasionally find at bunkers.  My most successful finds at a military site were at Ninigret, where I found an old road and soda bottles from the 1940s-50s were in a ditch next to it.  There is also a closed off section of the park that has some WWII vehicles and junk in it.  It is actively patrolled, so I never checked into it.  I also found some bottles at Beavertail. 
Oh, another quick question- has anyone ever found any original artifacts in bunkers?

I found the book Legendary Connecticut signed by the author in an abandoned house 5 years ago and some awesome local photography books in the same house.  Good thing, because that house burned to the ground this summer.  I collect bottles too, and found a half-full bottle of gum turpentine from 1939 in an abandoned house.

Have you checked out any bottle forums on digging and finding?  I've been hanging out at a couple lately.  Some bottles you find could be quite valuable!

Not that I've been in bunkers before, but I know of several places in the area that I Live in that has old junk sites (From back in the day when people threw there old shellfish shells and bottles in the woods with the lack of concern for the environment lol!) I've dug up some cool stuff, coke bottles, medicine bottles, a medicine bottle with the glass dropper still in it, some legit silver silverware (I was like wtf, its real Rogers silverware.. were these people crazy!?) and yeah, I can pick a winner outa the grounds of these places almost every time, which is why I've developed the liking for bottle digging.

 Wow, finding that signed book must have been something! I've would have prolly would have jumped with joy to find something that cool.. and then I'd prolly fall into the basement through the floor lol.

Actually, we didn't even notice it was signed until many hours later after we were done exploring for the night --we went to Friendly's with the books we got and were flipping through while waiting for dinner and that's when we noticed!  I always love finding abandoned buildings with stuff in them, all too often you get into a place and it's beyond empty.

Me and Omni have stumbled upon some old drinking spots around Rocky Point, some really old beer cans and liquor bottles. also around the woods at wetheril, not as old as the ones near Rocky Point but still cool I soppose. Well not nearly as good as what you guys have gotten, but oh well lol

I love the artifacts you find. i have a few prized ones.   i have sprinkler heads from 7 massachusetts state hospitals.   i finally found a speaker that sits on your car from a old drive in movie theater. my prised possesion was a crate stencled  with the date 1939 and thompson machine guns quantity 5 inside i found wood spacers. this i found in an old bunker in 1981 in westport mass.

hey - I collect something pretty weird I find in buildings - (although now I look for it wherever) - it was a small shack out in the woods that got me started - prior to this I had dug bottles and stuff - which was fun - but - this shack had old food from like 30 years ago on the shelves still - anyways -  do you guys ever run into this:

("this" being an actual location that I need to go to - another urban explorer took it and sent it to me) - basically looks like the garbage you see in any old building - but - its like 30 years old or so - (the rest of my pics - www.flickr.com/photos/mankatt - being other stuff Ive found in buildings - dumpster diving) - if you run across this stuff - partiuclarly chip bags, candy wrappers, food boxes - let me know -( or if you are in Western Mass - I know some cool/weird abandoned spots to explore - maybe we could swap info/locations) - find something random and  Ill definitely compensate you for your efforts -  (sort of hard to find a 1980s Doritos bag at the flea market..heh) - drop me a line

How about finding canning jars full of food from the 30's?  I've found that more than once...first time was in the ruins of a collapsed barn.  Food wrappers and stuff, in houses, of course.  It's hard to find abandoned houses still fully stocked with things, a lot of the ones I've been in were bare as a bone...makes them a little boring.

 I found a small blue jar full of noxema once.. It was kinda cool, but the same time kinda ew.. oldschool stuff..

I once found a fruit jar with an identifiable piece of chicken inside it.  It was probably from the 1950s, just lying on the ground near an old cellar hole.  It had a rubber seal.  More recently I found some poison bottles with glass tops and rubber seals with liquid in them. I'm not sure if it was original though.  Thanks for the posts everyone!

I think taking stuff is usually frowned upon in the UE community, but I'll take small things.
Like from that nursing home I have a pull-off wall calendar with the last date the place was open on it. And a ball of yarn/a roll of biohazard bags. A spoon an old person used to eat cereal with milk still on it (a bit nasty).

Like one bottle is cool, maybe a gauge off a machine, but nothing to take away from others' experiences, you know?

I've found a ton of antiques`...mostly cuz i know whats sought after and not a reproduction. my fav things although not the most expensive theor rare. my pride n joy is a cobalt blue skull shaped poisen bottle with stopper the only one ive seen that looked similair was smaller but sold for over 2k!  woot. i do regret selling tons of other stuff but hey i gatta fund my exploring sum how right?

is it? maybe due to the worth but i find any old bottle is sick nasty mind you its in one piece lol . it's sumthin about new england farm houses with big basements. they seem to be my treasure fields

oh, there are bottles worth way more than the cobalt skull, but that one is by far the coolest looking. lol.  A bottle book or reference guide just isn't complete without a picture of one. 

There was a bitters bottle that went on ebay a couple years back for $12,000.  Someone found it in their attic.
