Indian Burial Grounds
« on: May 02, 2004, 12:53:31 PM »
I spend quite a bit of time exploring cemetaries, both day and night and have been dying to find an Indian Burial ground. Now a buddy mentioned a couple in Burriville and in the Foster Gloucester area. I am not sure what exactly Im looking for. Pile of rocks? Head stone? Any thoughts on this and perhaps an idea of where to go to find one would be nice too

Outside old mystic connecticut across rt 184 is a nature preserve. If you follow the trails their is an old (and I mean really old) cemetary that I believe is an indian burial ground that was later used for early white settllers. The area is completly over grown and off the main path in the reserve. However there are about 10ft long piles of rocks that they piled over the graves so animals wouldn't dig deceased up. Thats what i look for to find them. There are also some old shattered headstones that look hand carved. the headstones are all broken and buried under leaves and brush.
