While at norwich the other night they now have motion lights when you go up the stairs between the two oil containers. So when you get to the top of the stairs...BOOM light, cataches securitys eye if theyre in the general area and then you either duck back into the darkness before they get there or your already caught and your screwed. we got away, but im hoping someone else will read this before going and maybe it will help them from getting caught. can easily be taken out with a sling shot and a rock or b b gun, paintball gun whatever. but it just has me thinking if they have motion lights up there, where else are there some, and what else if any security measures have they put in place since my last exploration. neone else have any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, or help please reply to this. thanks

Wow they're Nazis over there.  I mean, it's just going to get torn down if Utopia comes through, so what's the point in wasting the taxpayer's money?

Oh wait, that is the point.

That's funny Megster.  Well in CT, the casinos generate so much money that I'm sure there's plenty of tax payer's money to play with.

i thought it a waste of money too. but then again so is paying them to sit and "patrol" the lot. I mean comeon out of the many times ive been there, ive had a problem with them twice. And both times were stupidity on my part. That has to be the easiest work to profit ratio ive ever seen in my life. Back after it first closed there wasnt any security at all. But obviously bums quickly moved in for shelter in some parts and a small fire to stay warm once in a while got out of control. My old boss was a volunteer fire fighter and said they were there once or twice a week to put out small fires.

lol not to sound like a crazy Marxist here (cough... cough) but American society is so hung up on the concept of privatization that even obsessing over ownership of essentially waste (i.e., old buildings, etc) is the norm.  I can understand that these guys don't want to get sued, but there are limits to reason.  Even if one of us got hurt and tried to sue, with all the warnings posted, security measures, and the like, what court would ever find them at fault?  I just get mad that they can't spend that tax money on things like socializing medicine or making quality education attainable, or even better, fix the public school system, but no.  That money is better spent on building a police state in their eyes.

heh sorry- what started as a goof totally got away with me.

Sincerely,

a crazy Marxist

Very well said, I totally agree! I went there yesterday and instead of sneaking in I decided to see if it would be okay just to drive around and take pictures. Me and my boyfriend drove in and asked the security guy if that would be okay and he goes "Uh.. no, if my boss saw me let you do that I would get in trouble and so would you.. so I have to tell you to leave and you can't take any pictures. If you come back I have to call the state police." It seemed like he didn't really care but he was just worried about his job. Either way it's totally rediculous so instead of being nice and trying to follow the rules I guess we just have to do it the hard way and keep sneaking around.
It's always raining in my head

That sucks.  It's been three years since they told me to leave and I still haven't shown my face there LOL.  Though I plan on going again before Utopia plows through (I've been saying that for like 2 years too haha)

lol cielo we tried didnt we? ah well, i keep wanting to go back but with the new security measures they got like the motion lights and whatnot im honestly a little worried, cause if i ever did get caught and arrested, as soon as foxwoods caught wind of that boom there goes my job. thats the only thing that keeps me from going. lol also the fact that my buddy is a state trooper and he said if they ever get calls of people in there they send the dogs in after you and that they dont stop biting until he catches up and gives the command. :-)

It's definitely sad when "ownership" and legalities and things of that nature trump the laudible desire to learn and explore and such.  Terminal hubris, I suppose!

oh well... happy exploring!

When you go looking for ghosts in these places be sure to be a ghost leave no clues to your existence and dissapear into thin air!!!!

sometimes that happens, we usually bombard thru there once a week, sometimes they are on the other side of the property, sometimes they are at the back of the property, in the guardbuilding watching tv, on the other side of the road where the abandoned neighborhood is, or sometimes even sleeping in there truck, like the time we drove in front of their truck with my buddys jeep and hit all the hella lights on top and started blazing on the horn, he jumped up and freaked then we sped away. but they could have been anywhere on the property.

ah good old NSH, so I return again, visiting this place is like visiting a dieing family member in the hospital who you know isnt going to recover. you just see it all slowly deteriorating not being able to help themselves. this place has become more of a family member to me then a bunch of abandoned buildings with a cloudy past. But I have respected it thru the years, and in return have yet to get caught, have gotten away on many times I shouldnt have, and have seen what many have never seen or will see and have almost in a way stepped back in time. Experienced my first paranormal activity here, and have met many awesome people along the way as a result of this place ( IB included ! ). I visit NSH now on a weekly basis, trying to get in what I can while I still can, seeing something new everytime, and just living in the moment. I visited the other side known as the abandoned neighborhood last night, was 10 yards from a secuity car, and had 2 of them looking for me and my 3 friends. Got a stop sign as a suvenier, and a light fixture from last week that I have pictures of. Enjoy and please if you can visit this place before it gets too crazy there. There is already beefed up security ( 3 cars patrolling at all times ) and a state trooper on the property nightly now as I have notied before. If anyone would like to see at least one building saved, contact the historical socieity of norwich please! even one building is better than no buildings. It might mean something to more than you know. Anyways here are my pics.

so security is finally stepping it up and I give them credit for once. Up until this past year they have been an honest to god joke at that place where dodging them was as easy as whipeing after pooping. But on this past weeks trip to NSH they toyed with me, but I was not leaving without showing my guests a fun time.  ^_^ So we arrived there around 11:30. We parked odly enough in a vacant property accross the street from the abandoned neighborhood. After a few minutes we arrived in the neighboorhood itself and made our way crossyard in front of the water tower, past the electrical shack and down to what appears to be a mess hall. being unsafe with a nicly collapsed roof inside we said nope not going in there and made our way around the backs of the buildings, to what appeared to be one that housed a swimming pool due to the style of square glass around many of the windows that you can see today in modern pool buildings. there was an opening on the window on the second floor, but the stairs were collapsed in the middle and didnt invite us. One thing we noticed and kind of put a damper on our trip was the fresh plywood that was up on many windows. No rust on the new locks, fresh smell of cut wood, and the little upc scan tag was still stuck to the wood making me guess it was probably put up that morning or the day before. After cutting back up to the neighborhood we took a atv path down to pondview, every entrance i had previously known was boarded and locked. wtf. this was pissing me off. its like getting locked out of your own house. Norwich seamed to welcome me back to pondview as the fire alarm was still clanking away with no power to the building. i knew the buildings knew i was there. after walking behind the old garages we came up to route 12. i was with myself, my buddy pope, my other buddy martin, and popes girlfriend amber. amber was a newcomer as myself and martin were veterans. popes second time there. me and pope slide under the big tree ( not sure what kind it is ) and watch route 12 clear up, as martin and amber did not want to be that adventurus that night. we slip across the road and i stand up behind the first tree whereas pope dives behind a bush. first car down route 12 who could it be? security! nice job guys 30 seconds too late. they drive by winding out what seemed to be second gear by the sound of the motor and the speed of the truck. we wait for a few mins to see if they come back which they dont. pope notices a outline in the darkness 10 yards away and goes to shine his light on it. i whisper to him loudly not to as it could be security. growing uneasy that security hasnt come back and having our group split with no 2ways we decide to head back. we no sooner get back at the corner of the building then the lights kick on. it was security. they drive around where we just were and shine there lights across the street. i am at the corner of the building hidden and pope is in plain view. we both get hit as i am trying to get him back in the shadows when he freezes like a deer. i think we are hit but see no action from them that would confirm my thought. we decide to head back the way we came to the car. we get back up to the water tower as I turn behind me to see the old stop sign u see in my previous post. not wanting to be destructive but wanting a piece of rememberance i get the sign free of its longtime post and we head out. security sitting in the driveway to the entrance to the neighborhood. with a nice honk we drive by, and find security sitting on the other side of the  road now where we once were with the lights off. with a honk to them too we head back to moehegan to pick up my distinctive looking car that if they saw would prompt police notification. so ends another week at norwich. thought about a nothing trip up tonight but my 4am awakening for work and my crazy night last night would rule it out. but im up for next week if anyones willing. send me a message if interested and we can make something happen. id like to share what i can while i can. enjoy guys.

let me just add the security still sucks for the person shadowing me thru here. i was doing recon there the other day and i was within 10-15 feet of them and they still couldnt see me. ill be going here till theres nothing left, except main administration which is staying :-D huray!
