Where have you been exploring?

Just wondering where everyone has been exploring lately.

Foxboro is my fave place. Lots of interesting things there besides the asylum.
I've been to Swan Point my fave cemetery.
Also have found while walking in the woods on the south shore here, a few over grown family
type grave plots.
A huge electrical company, where they wanted to put an LNG plant.
HA they still need to clean up the chemicals left over from the elec co.
The "soap factory", and a few other places.

PS lots of changes on UER.
Does anyone still post there?

Lately?  Nothing...too busy job hunting.  I think the last thing I tackled was Fort Mansfield all over again for an article I wrote for The Resident.

And I got a new car so I'm not as willing to drive it behind a house where there could be nails and broken glass in the grass, and gas is expensive too :(.

My favorite place I ever explored was Norwich State Hospital, back before I realized that's what it was. lol. Actually it was an abandoned neighborhood up the road that's not obviously a part of that complex, so my friends and I just called it Laurel Hill.  Unfortunately, this was in 1998 before I called anything urban exploration, before I fell in love with photography and before my name would show up in the papers if I happened to get arrested (I was 14), and so I have no pictures.  I'd like to rectify that, but I need the time/place to hide my car lol. -sigh-

Most of the places I've been are abandoned houses, but here's a list of other stuff...

Ladd School (2003)
Rocky Point (2003)
Fort Mansfield (1994, 2002, 2003, 2005)
Mercy Brown's grave (2001)
Nelly Vaughn's grave (1999)
Hell's Gates (1999, 2000...attempted in 2003 (saw someone else and ran away), 2004 (got "lost" in woods, to make a long story short))
Sockonassett Boy's Training School (too late, in the middle of renovations) (2004)
Norwich State Hospital (1998, attempted in 2003 but got caught)
Mansfield Institution (2004)
Waterford Airport (2004)

Places I'd like to attempt/find:

Remains of Ramtail Factory in Foster, RI
Holyland USA in Waterbury, CT (religious amusement park closed since 1984, apparently it's an easy one and no one cares if you go there...two hour ride for me)
Abandoned theater across the street from my house...literally like 100 feet away.

I hide in the shadows and babble about old things.  I appear to most new members of IB.  I might beat you with my cane.

Man, we've got to add that Holyland USA to the list.   Meg, you are such a naughty girl with that (alleged) arrest!   ^_^

Nah, I didn't get arrested.  I got chased by security at speeds of about 45 around the hospital buildings and we couldn't find our way out.  They eventually chased us right to their headquarters, which my friend and I didn't know about, and yelled at us for a bit.

But when we told them we followed two other cars in there and got lost, and that we would leave peacefully if they would just show us the way out already, they decided to go off in search of the other two cars and leave us alone.  It was really funny because on their radios messages were coming in like
"Did you get the green station wagon yet?"
"No, but some kids in a red Pontiac are telling us there's a red SUV and a jeep running around"
"What, a red Pontiac?"

They weren't too happy.

Norwich is easy if you don't have to worry about a car.  Unfortunately I've never really had that luxury.

I tried looking for the Ramtail factory back in the spring of this year,  and let me tell ya, don't get stuck out there with no light!!!, bring a back up flashlight or extra batteries the darkness is surreal , we went there about two times, we didn't know where to look , so we just took any random trail heading towards the water, all of them resulted in dead ends or just going in circles, we also found an old truck in the middle of trees and bushes. don't know how they drove that in there.

anyways we found the right path eventually, somewhere near the cemetary and the cement bridge on the main road. and it was the longest of the paths, and it seemed to follow the river, so we knew it was the right one. Anyways the vibe of this path was changing as we were traveling deeper down it. and we were gettin excited to know we were going to see the ruins and possibly more.

But so much excitement dies when we got to the end of the path, seemed like where there was a small bridge at one point, was removed or washed away..it only looked to be about 10 feet.

We thought about returning with an inflatable raft  or making something out of wood , but it seemed like to much work and effort...lol
dissapointing really, it was also at that point that our camcorder stopped recording, though we never shut it off.
we noticed this when we played it back. quite chilling..we still talk about till this day.

The most intriguing part of the Ramtail factory is that it was offically closed by the state for being officially Haunted. as I read
So I'm thinking the bridge was removed by the state for the sake of keeping explorers out or whatever. that is ofcourse if we were even on the right path....someday I hope to return to the Ramtail and actually find the place..lol

My friend and I went down that path on foot one day in the summer of last year, but we didn't get too far because it started pouring.  Thanks for talking about the bridge that's out, at least now we know what to expect.  :)

Apparently the cement bridge near the cemetery is supposed to be haunted too?  Something about the legend of Dolly Cole or something.
