Exploring along Appalchian Trail

So I deciced to take the time out of work and hike south along the AT for a couple months this spring; starting in NW CT.  I figure this will be the perfect t opportunity to get to explore some new places.  I have a couple places in mind, but outside of RI and MA I don't really know any low key places.  Was just wondering if you guys had any ideas for me?  The place I want to go the most is N. Brother island, which I think will be a whole ordeal just in itself.

North brother island has been a dream of mine for a while. It can be done but it's difficult. Unless you get permission wich is equally If not more difficult. Enjoy the trail though! It's gorgeous out there!

I know n. Brother is about as badass as it gets.  The location, the fact that its an island, and its crazy history and deaths are what draw me too it.  I figure that just getting to the island is most of the battle.  Once your on it I think your pretty much alone, Im pretty sure its a bird sanctuary now

Has anyone investigated the possibility of a supernatural explanation for the murder in Knotty Oak Cemetery, considering its historical significance and rumored paranormal activity?
