Touisset Farms
« on: May 22, 2012, 11:09:13 PM »
There are a few abandoned farms in touisset (warren, ri), this is my favorite. I believe it is right on long lane and it is very simple to get there; there are two or three buildings, including a silo and stable. Inside there are tons of cool old things including an incredibly rusty triumph motorcycle and dozens of journals written by the same person (whom I believe to be a young man suffering from depression, if not more. The journals are definitely the most interesting part - I took a few home to read then returned them - they are full of poems, letters, and memories. Here are some photos.

I wouldn't have returned the journals, because if that place burns then those journals are lost forever and they have historical value, plus, they can be returned to family members in the future.  I have a journal from 1941 I found at a yardsale that I'm about to reunite with the person who wrote it, who's 90 now.

That's awesome! I never even thought of that, I suppose I was thinking it would be nice for someone else to read them. Maybe I'll go back and see if they're still there!

Found it on Google Earth; it's on the west side of Touisset Road about a quarter mile south of Barton Avenue. Wish I had researched that sooner; I just went to Touisset Marsh a couple weeks ago.

As for the rail cars in Portsmouth, they're gone.
