It's an old mill race tunnel system. It would have been used to harness the power of the water flowing below the mill. The mill itself no longer stands, and the only entrance to the system is a nondescript hole in the middle of the woods.

yes, agreed, and the worst part is that since its a huge site and a great resource, it could be so much better without all the drama

March has come and gone, and in general, it sucked. A newly added probation term and severe lack of funds(Also courtesy of the aforementioned probation) led to a sad lack of exploring. That's not to say, of course, I didn't get out a few times.
