OK, folks. As we rebuild our old photo repository, I was able to revive the "Storage Bunker" gallery located here:
http://www.insanebunkers.com/cpg133/index.phpNow it's only text. As mentioned before all of the photos got wiped out in the Great Webhost SNAFU of 200x. At least we can use the list of galleries and sites as a structure to rebuild. I know I have tons of photos to upload (snapshot of partial directory below)
For now, you can browse the old areas. Yes, it really broken and will lead to tons of database error entries so this will be a limited time exposure until we get the new site up and running.
I'm still torn however on whether to go back to Coppermine and of the SMF to Coppermine bridge OR SMF Gallery Pro. Here's a list of Pro/Cons. Any comment from the community are appreciatiated.
Coppermine
- Requires a "bridge" to SMF which from allows one-login for a better seam between sites.
- Bridging was not perfect - always a little flacky
- Requires SMF and Coppermine separately to be updated and re-bridged. Sometimes modifications are wonky.
+ More flexibility - can display all sorts of media including video and audio files, natively.
+ Can tie in Google Map location feature.
+/- Permissions and control from admin side is good, just a royal PITA
+ Batch upload available, multiple methods (FTP, mut- HTML files)
+ Highly customizable
+ No cost for license
SMF Gallery Pro
- Costs $50 to get all the features we need.
+ Totally integrated with forum, no bridge needed.
+ Easier to update, less prone to hackers because so easy to update security fixes
- Less flexible
- Less batch upload options.
