Climbing Lantern Hill today 6/19
« on: June 19, 2011, 08:10:36 AM »
It's Father's Day, and in my family it's been a tradition that we go hiking with my grandfather up Lantern Hill.  This year he's 80!

Thanks guys!

Decay--my great-grandfather was going up there in his early 80s too, but besides my grandfather now we don't run into too many old timers up there.  We made it our Father's day tradition in 2000, though we used to go up several times a year before that with both my grandparents.

Carbon the hike isn't so bad, I've been doing it since I was 4. lol  I actually do remember what the view was like before Foxwoods was even there.  The paths are well marked and we're always running into people up there.

I should scan some pictures of that place my grandmother has from around 1975.  And I bought a couple postcards off ebay of a whole family up there from around 1910.

I climbed Lantern Hill on a December morning just as dawn was breaking. Check out my blog post on the Silex quarry for some cool photos.
