Crook Point Bascule Bridge
« on: May 09, 2011, 01:32:20 AM »
If you've ever been through Providence, odds are you've seen this thing without ever giving it a second glance. It's actually a fairly rad place. Known more commonly as the Seekonk River Drawbridge, or as the Erection Bridge, this old lift bridge has been stuck in the open position, at a sixty five degree angle since its abandonment in 1976. Here's some shots from over the last few years.

I actually just found this pano on the web, and thought I'd share that too since it's fairly rad, and gives a damned good feeling of being there yourself. This is not mine.

I've yet to conquer that one. This summer...

In 19, my friend Doug is on top of the highest point, spinning steel wool though.

Nice pictures.  There's something very appealing about truss and rails.
Saving history one photo at a time.
