Boston harbor Kayak trip
« on: March 24, 2011, 11:19:56 AM »
So, next weekend I have off, and the snow is gone (finally!) anyone up for a boston harbor kayak trip to some forts? I have a two person kayak and can bring one other person. You'll  have to meet up at a designated spot. I don't forsee us tipping over, but it'd be good if you can swim just in case. If you  have any expensive camera junk double wrap it so it doesn't get wet! Depending on how long we take at the first site and when we start out we can possibly hit multiple forts.

PM me for specifics.

Would love to but painting the house next weekend.
Do not wait to strike till the iron is hot; but make it hot by striking.

Sounds like fun  They were supposed to start demolition on one of the forts this month, I'm not sure if they have yet or not.

No takers huh? Guess I'll have room for some fishing gear then.

I didn't wind up going, all the snow we got here Friday got me bummed out, then my camera wouldn't work and the SD card I thought was in it (with the pics of my kids being born) wasn't in it! So I figured the only thing that could happen would be me flipping over and getting hypothermia.

noooooo good!  Hope you find that card, I'd go nuts with missing cards.

Still haven't found my lost SD card :/ But I did finally dig out the kayak and paddle over to the fort. They've torn alot down. Hopefully they're done demolishing things, but there are still some buildings left. Some are labeled as being slated for stabilization, so hopefully they also plan to rehab them and open them up and not just board them up for eternity. I saw three turkey and a deer, not bad for an island so close to the city, it always amazes me how animals get to the strangest spots.

I'll post up some pics when I get home from work. Still got the kayak on the truck and ready to rock! I've got this week off, so if anyone else does shoot me a message. Looking to check out boston, portland and newport harbors for forts or anywhere else that a kayak might come in handy. It is a two person kayak
