South Carolina/Happy Holidays
« on: December 23, 2010, 01:01:39 PM »
The Million Dollar Man is heading south to SC for the holidays and will be back the first week of January. According to my brother in law there is an abandoned slave plantation to check out, if it turns out to be small change I won't mention what happens, but I'm bringing my voice recorder, EMF, and camera just in case. I don't know if I'll have time to drive to Columbia, I guess there is an abandoned state hospital up there, unfortunately were in Murrells Inlet so its a 3+ hour drive one way! If anyone has any legit spots to check out let me know, if not everyone have a safe and happy holidays!

http://Kabli- as usual it didn't go quite according to plan, this abandoned slave plantation is off rt 17 N and is owned by Clemson University for research as a wildlife preserve. So foolishly my sister wanted to come along but since I was staying at her place for 10 days it was the least I could do! Its basically a network of trails in thick woods near the intracoastal waterway. We wandered around for about an hour around 10 pm on these trails and didn't see a single building and my sister who was carrying a 38 pistol was having a panic meltdown, meanwhile I'm armed with a compass and a flashlight. So on the way out I noticed a small sign for Alderly Cemetary and she just freaked out and made me bring her out of the woods! It was a bummer, but check this out, I also met this guy at the hunting club who said there is an abandoned nuclear power plant in Ellenton, SC which would have been a 4 hour drive one way! He also mentioned another nuke power plant site that they didn't finish but they filmed the movie The Abyss in one of its flooded out reactors!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherokee_Nuclear_Power_Plant It may be cool but its not Exeter, Ri!

The in-laws close on their new house in a little over a week. We are already starting to move our stuff into the new house.
