Architects determine Administration Building on Riverwalk can be saved
Published 04/15/2010 12:00 AM

Preston - The Preston Redevelopment Agency announced Wednesday that the Administration Building on the Preston Riverwalk has been deemed salvageable by Paul B. Bailey Architects, LLC.

The Board of Selectmen chose Bailey to perform the structural analysis of the Administration Building last December. Two weeks ago, Bailey did a walk-through of the building and suggested patching large exterior holes and to plan on heating it for the winter months.

Preston Redevelopment Agency Chair Kent Borner hopes the Administration Building can be used one day for various town services.

In an effort to preserve items from the buildings located on the property, members of the Historical Society have begun the process of photographing and collecting specific items from the Administration Building.

A motion was made to begin forming a draft of the request for proposals for site abatement, demolition and salvage.

Well, that's nice to see.
I hide in the shadows and babble about old things.  I appear to most new members of IB.  I might beat you with my cane.

I wouldn't say that.  Preston is in charge of funding security now rather than the state so I don't know if the guys they had last fall are still there.

I'm just glad that they will probably put in an effort to save the Main Admin building because it really is the most beautiful building there.
