Title: Big Things happening at NSH
Post by: CarbonCavi on August 18, 2009, 11:36:03 AM
So i was in the area today so I decided to drive past NSH and turn around on laurel hill and come back down, well as i was going past the church i looked off to the distance and there was a huge tinnerello dumpster and what looked like part of a building torn down or a whole made in a wall. i was driving by so i couldnt get a good view, then when I got up to pondview the gates were wide open. Somethings up and it doesnt look good.... anyone got any news articles? For once im not on the information end of this .

Odd, I haven't seen anything in the paper about it either and it's been a while since I delivered mail down there.

drive by on a weekday if possible ( i know your working but if your not ) and drive towards laurel hill, and look beyond main admin and you should see the dumpsters, also talked to a credible source yesterday and since their is contractors on site and nsh is known for being a "hot spot" for locals ct state police help patrol the grounds from 12am-6am to deter people from stealing contractor equipment.

I have never been to NSH, but as I work in the mental Health Field I would like to go.  I have been studying it for a year and I have co-workers who used to work there who have related to me information concerning general operation of the facitlity.  I have been urban exploring for several years, though never anything of this magnitude.  Is it still possible to go inside? What is the best way in?  I'm especially interested in Lippitt, which is not connected to the tunnels, however, I would like to get into the tunnels as there are specific buildings on the tunnel system I 'm interested in as well.  I would appreciate any information seasoned NSH explorers have to offer.

Theres many ways in, although I dont give specifics online look at a google earth of the site and look at places closest to treelines etc. those are usually your easiest ways in. Lippit has some cool patient files in the basement not many people know about. Yes the tunnels are still accessible, and in some areas they put mounts of dirt in there to try and stop kids. that didnt work lol.
