Utopia goes bust... and PM me for info on security (Carbon, I'm PMing you). Should give us at least another year or two of exploring Norwich.

it seems utopia is gone for good ( i never thought it would get off the ground neway ) but there are currently multiple people looking into the property. Foxwoods for one, can throw up the money tommorow although they havnt publicly released what they would plan to do with it anyway, and from what i understand they will not sell to either one of the tribes. good call there.
next some guy said he can have money in two weeks. plans to leave all buildings standing and put up a hotel and marina. forgot exactly what his plans were. but we'll see.

My grandparents live in the town of Preston which is still fighting with the state over Norwich.  The state wants it back, what the fuck are they going to do with it?  NOTHING.

Preston can't afford to clean it up, would cost too much taxpayer money.  There's some kind of clause that they can't assume the mess from the state and then turn around and pass it off to someone else, which doesn't make any sense to me since the state doesn't want to clean it up and they made the mess.

The only way Norwich could go affordably is if it went in pieces.  Demo the buildings that can't be saved and rehab the ones that aren't too bad.  But.....of course that makes too much sense so you're probably right!  ABANDONED FOREVER.

The worse this economy gets, the less money there is for security operations where all the guards do is read playboy all day waiting for someone to come blazing through to get chased.

If you want to see video and interviews and throwback photos, there is a video you can rent at the Preston Library that a guy filmed the final day NSH was open. I was there when he showed it. Great video!
