Title: Dolly cole
Post by: urbanexplorer on July 07, 2006, 01:20:09 AM
Dolly Cole was a suspected witch in foster back in the mid 1800s her house was burnt down by her neighbors with her daughter in it killing her by accident they were after Dolly not her daughter. The legend goes that she walks in old time (mid 1800s) mens clothes in the woods near a brook which now bears her name Dolly Cole Brook. Word of caution this is on a private sportsmans club in foster where they have active ranges for both bow and arrow and guns they also hunt on this land which Dolly is said to haunt i went in search of her grave today and visited 6 cemeteries in the area i thought i had found it at Historical cemetery#45 because i found a Dorothy Cole in this cemetery which dolly can be for short but the date of death on the headstone is not the year "Dolly" died i am pretty certain she is buried in Historical cemetery # 26 in foster there are a lot of old gravestones most of which are worn clean so i cannot verify if she is in there or not i looked at every headstone in there and out of the ones that can still be read i did not find her i will be doing some more research and will post my findings more to come...................................oh yeah the pics of today are up in my member gallery under hist# 26 and there are others

Hmm... Dorothy Cole and not 1893? Even stranger if the dates are wrong but there are still 27 years between birth and death... do you remember the dates?

Whatever cemeteries you went to, I'm sure it's the one closest to Tucker Hollow Road.

I didn't happen to go inside due to all the warning signs posted everywhere but I did take a picture of the area.

I thought the Dolly Cole bridge was on Ramtail Rd, near the parking spot for the path to Ramtail mill??  Azeron your pics look like the area near the Ramtail mill foundation.

Hmmmm....

Well the guide that I was following was telling me that the area she was seen (Ghost) was in private property owned by a hunting club. This area had the signs "DO NOT ENTER, PRIVATE PROPERTY" and then some info about it being hunting ground. Maybe I'm wrong but the Ram Tail Factory was down the road from here. Well, more like a couple down the roads from here. Well, whatever. I was really disappointed with my trip. I only liked on of the pictures I took the whole time.
