My husband, kids, and I went by Norwich State Hospital a couple of weeks ago en route to a Navigators game and all I have to say is Holy Crap! We slowed down just to peak from the outside, and well all four of us felt a humongous chill as we were in the area on Rte 12. And as we passed the patient cemetery, it got even colder. We know this wasn't normal because as right after we passed the state property, it got warmer again.
I've always heard there's something like 360 ghosts in that area, now we have proof that there is DEFINATELY some weird crap going on in there.
BTW, a note; we have an odd feeling when Utopia goes in there to clean out that site, there is going to be alot of paranormal events that will leave people injured for no explicit reason.
Hate to tell ya. Norwich State is my playground and there's nothing paranormal there, and I'm a semi-kinda-believer in that stuff.
Hello...I guess from a practical standpoint, the Norwich State Hospital is one of the more interesting places I have visited. I don't believe it's haunted or anything though. I spent a whole afternoon there walking around the complex taking pictures. What amazed me is the immense SIZE of the place. I did stumble across a security office in the middle of th complex. I also did read once that if you ask the guards if you can photograph some buildings they may let you provided you dont go near them or try to go in them. Last time we went by there on the way to casino, there was a State police dog training exercise. We were promptly escorted off the grounds! But when I first visited there last fall I got a bunch of really cool pictures. I don't believe there is any "weird crap" going on in there! It's just a bunch of old empty buildings....thats all! I have spent enough time around there to say that there are no ghosts or any kind of paranormal things going on. I had my dog with me, and dogs they say, sometimes can sense things we cannot. My dog acted totally normal the whole time. I even picked him up to let him look inside the window of an old building. It was totally dark in there and he didnt even flinch. I think that the creepy appearance of these kinds of places gets peoples imaginations flowing! But the dog didnt seem to care too much. I hope to return sometime soon for some more pictures....bob58 :D

Ive been inside out up down all over that place. we give tours of the sort to people too who are either just too dumb to get inside without getting caught, or just too afraid to go in on their own. Deffinitly like taking a step back in time in some parts. Love that place, would hate to see it go.

ive been trying, but each week that goes by more and more stuff gets freshly borded up, more and more doors get locked from the inside, and more and more security seems to show up. Today for instance i was doing recon there, and 13 army hum vs/giant tanks/jeeps/god knows what pulled out with everyone in full combat gear. I was like AHHH. so theyre doing inner city combat missions again inside there. Not a problem though theyve been doing it for years there. But I can bring people along still, just its getting dimmer and dimmer on getting in. Plus everyone I bring in i know is legit and not someone setting me up.
I so need to see the place, and we have to check out Devers to see if it's cooled down at all as far as getting back in. That's another great place.
yo carboncavi we dont know each other but if youd be willing to include me on a tour that would be mad cool but if not thats understandable. i know some southeastern ct UE spots i could show you in return i.e. fairfield hills state hospital (mandatory break in) or koenigs artist supply co. get back to me whenever you get a chance

i get what your saying as far as covering your own ass... well "mandatory break in" means i have no idea how to get in w/out breaking in. i first started going to fairfield hills at night and i would just drive around the campus. i always wanted to get in but i didnt know how and i wasnt into breaking in. anyone i knew who went in "didnt remember" how to get in. one day my friend and i went during the day to take pix of the outside and we walked around the litchfield house and i noticed a missing basement window. that window was my entrance to fairfield hills but the last time i was there not only that window but every window on the basement level, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors were boarded up. the only alternative is entering through a tunnel entrance in the woods but that would require a grounds map cause i dont know where that entrance is. koenigs art supply is easy to get in and theres no mandatory break in.

Devers would be easy if you can stash your ride somewhere. Our drama with the dog grooming people is the only thing that tipped them off that we were even there. Otherwise we would have slipped out unnoticed. If you can stash your car by the back of the place (near the warehouses) you can get in through the laundry which is the building up by the smashed up school bus. From there, there are tunnels that will get you anywhere on the campus you want. Word of caution- there are high voltage lines down there- just don't touch the stuff along the walls and you have no worries. I would also suggest a p-100 rated respirator because there's a hell of a lot of asbestos down there. Prometheus and I need to get back there. Remember- teal pickup truck and a new blue blazer are the 2 security vehicles. They are unmarked so ya gotta be mindful. Anything else I can tell ya, let me know.

Found a bill for 7,433,500 for underground tank removal from the 50s. no wonder the damn place ran out of cash my god. neways lots of new pics. I found out i officially hate Kettle as i always get turned around and lost in there. lol.
The celebrity filming crew ( all that i can tell you ) officially fucked the shit out of main admin. only a week ago you were able to freely walk the place. now the stairs are covered in anything and everything from the above floors making it an obsticle from hell to get up there. also they ripped out alot of marble panels off the walls and just broke alot of shit. but check my foulder of NSH from time to time as i will update it weekly. Also check out my 95 house foulder as well. I also have a few more places to hit this week. Been busy! hope you guys all enjoy!

its not in middle town. if your doing a map, look for mohegan sun, if you can find mohegan you cannot miss norwich state, its RIGHT next to it. Its actually on the lines of norwich/preston. but its also right near uncasville and ledyard.
and the film crew that destroyed the main admin building is from vh1. old fart tv did some damage. it should be airing sometime in the next month. ill keep you guys posted :-)

Selective pictures as to what im posting here. Lets just say i went EVERYWHERE tonight. very busy night. started before dusk. Great pictures from atop the lodge. Then lots of exploring. lots of bats and batshit too. ah well.
Hit the lodge, auditorium, projection room, fitness room, morgue, roller skating rink, main kitchen, seymour, shit i dont know how many other buildings as well. will have pics up tommorow. was looking for two other groups that said they were going to go. they either chickened out, or they were around the property somewhere else.
ok now this was fuckin bad. i went to norwich state with my buddys. afterwards were sitting in the parking lot were chilling just talking and this truck and car pull up and go in the back parking area near where the cut fence used to be. were sitting near the entrance. then it looks like theyre fucking! im like wtf. so i sneak over on the edge of the overgrowth and hide behind this tree on the fence RIGHT next to them. then he rolls the window down and im like fuck now i cant get back! i just wanted to confirm they were fucking and then got stuck listening to the shit! i was like DAMNIT. i had to sit hidden till they left i didnt know what theyd do if i tried goin back to the car. they were like 50-60 and it was gross! lol. had to share. fireworks tonight at mohegan! :-) i have the best view
can i say I had the most scariest night of my life in a long time?! And may i also add that me and insane rider and everyone else in my crew that was with me tonight are unstopable?! more in the morning when im awake and all with it.

on lunch break, still not enough time to explain, had some unexplainable happen, a bunch of bruised and battered bodies, throw in the state police, and some nice fireworks and it makes for one hell of a night, and when i type it down on here you guys will have something good to eat with a bag of popcorn. rider where you at help tell the story babe!
Where shall we begin? Hmmm... Beginning sounds good :p.... So, we started out in kettle... I mean, we literally went into every single room in kettle... We found this AWESOME ass room. I'm under the assumption it was the pharmacy. Being that I work in a mental hospital and knowing what a nurses med room looks like, I don't think it was the med room. WAY too many meds and orders in there... We found some sweet ass shit in there... From, unopened syringes to pill crushers to actual pills themselves, this room was awesome... So, continuing throughout kettle, we decide that having gone the entire way through the place, wed head on over to the morgue. So, we walk alllll the way to the proposed exit only to find it locked... Now, being that our group was comprised mostly of men, what do you think they did? NO WAY.... not go to an OPENED door. The fuckers wanted to go THROUGH the door... So, all 5 of them attempted to bruce lee roundhouse kick the door to the point of removing the door handle and lock mechanism from the rattling and constant kicking... Can anyone tell me why NONE of them listened to my completely VALID point... "Hey guys, were in a mental hospital on the ACUTE unit, meaning that the people on this unit were REALLY bad off their rocker. Don't you think they've all tried to escape? My guess is that men bigger and stronger than you have attempted and well... Obviouslt they didn't succeed... Why the hell would the doors be that easy to just kick open... Not to mention guys that the highway is RIGHT there!"...... Uhhhhh, yea, I definately said that a few times... So while the boys continued to kung fu kick the door, the girls sat in boredom knowing the already visible outcome... Wed have to walk the length of the unit again to the other door... Therefore, we did... Now, at this time, we decided to head over to the morgue. Wed all been there before at night. So, we figured wed go in at night and explope the entire building, as wed not done so the time before. We make our way into the autopsy room and the slabs for the bodies. (Check for the pics me and kev took there.) We take a few pics and decide to head up... We make our way to the second floor which really wasn't such a big deal so we decide to continue up... So we begin to ascend the flight to the third floor. Now in order to understand what happened, you have to understand that the stairs first go up straight, then theres a landing to the right and followed by another set that goes up to the right of you. So we begin up the first set, our little group being led by yours truly and all of a sudden we hear what sounds like a fucking herd of wild buffalo coming down at us... NO fucking JOKE..... Whatever it was was coming FAST and quick.... So, me being a little girl decides FUCK stairs and I take a giant superman leap through the entire group following us, off the stairs, onto the balcony and down the fucking hallway of the second floor as fast as I can. I stop at the end of the hallway and the rest of the group isn't far behind...
Sooooo... Where was I? Oh yes, all of the group met up with me at the other end of the second floor... Now, inorder to understand the next events. You gotta know the building. Here's a brief decsription. Its rectangle, consisting of 4 floors with stairs at both sides.... There you go... So now, were all at the other end of the hallway, and we get ballsy and decide we wanna go up anyways. Now, the only reason we wanted to go up is because carboncavi told us that there was this cool ass room on the third floor and because we were kind of curious to find out what the fuck was up there. So we head up... Safe flight up, no buffalo... So, we get the the third floor and carbon looks around and he says "I don't remember the third floor looking like this" (keep in mind, the kid lives 10 minutes from this place and is there almost everyday)... The place was really kind of eerie, all of the doors were opened to the same exact angle and it was EXCEPTIONALLY dark up there... We get about 5 feet down the hallway and decide to get the fuck up out of there. We all didn't have a good feeling. So we all pretty much RUN down the stairs and were right above our main entrance point. We all walk over to the door to find the mother fucker LOCKED... Now, the door can ONLY be locked on the INSIDE and our entire group was with us! After a few seconds of fumbling with the lock, we all decide FUCK this shit and go out a broken window... So, now we get outside deciding that that was some pretty fucked up shit. Something didn't want us up on the third floor. I can pretty much say that that shit spooked the hell out of all of us. We were all REALLY uptight end just on edge. So, we decide to just walk around and the fireworks were starting soon. So, we headed to our rooftop destination. The fireworks went off without a hitch. (Minus the fat chick sittin on kevins car). Haha... The fireworks finish and we decide that were gonna split up because a few members of our group were gonna go back to the parking lot to pick up some more members and then meet up with all of us over by pondview. So... Me, kev, steve, leah, and amanda procceed over to pondview. Now, getting there is kinda dangerous being that you have to cross over this big huge open field right in front of a main highway with signs everywhere that say NO TRESPASSING.... Fuck them, we do what we want ;) so, were crossing the main highway and you kinda gotta walk along the woods for a little bit when DUN DUN DUUUNNNNN..... STATIE sees us!!!!!! He throws his car in park, hits us with the spotlight, and turns the fuckin car around to give chase!!! We all HAUL ASSSSSSSS!!!!! We dip into the woods, down this abandoned road on the property, across pondview, down theside of pondview, up this STEEEEP ass trail in the woods that leads to the old abandoned neighborhood where all of doctors that worked at the hospital lived w their families. Now, this may sound like a short jog to you, but in actuality, it was about 2 or so miles of all terrain sprinting! Oh yea, without flashlights because it was dark and DUH, they def would have found us... So, the good thing is that the flashlights being off helped us not get caught but it didn't do shit for our visibility! Naturally, I hurled myself down some cliff thing on the side of some stairs that everyone else managed to see... Doesn't matter, I was a soldier, I still stood back up and was in the front most of the time, well, behind kev who knew the way! So...
We stop half way in some woods in between pondview and the abandoned neighborhood. In the pitch black dark and we decide were gonna call the others that split and tell us that were gonna try to make it out to the road and have them pick us up... Would you believe the pussies wouldn't come get us? Fucking bastards... They didn't want to get in trouble... Riddle me this batpussies, is it illegal to pick up ur friends on the side of the road? Last I knew it wasn't. As long as we weren't ON state property, we were ok... None the less, they didn't have their big girl panties on last night and basically we were told to get out of it ourselves... So, here we are stuck in some fucking forest of some abandoned insane asylum. We had been chased 2ce once by something we could prove was alive and once by the unknown... So, were all like FUCK, what do we do... We decide were gonna cut across the abandoned neighborhood and make it out to the road because no matter what, we can't get in trouble for being on the main road... So... We continue to walk up this STEEP ass hill, I mean, this shit gives mountain climbing a whole nother meaning, and we make it into the abandoned neighborhood... We cross the abandoned neighborhood and get ready to walk out onto the road when BAM... Cops are fucking waiting for us!!!!!! We haul ASSSSS back into the woods. Of course, the run back into the woods wouldn't have been complete until I busted my ass again. So, I figured I'd get it out of the way and bust my knee open. So, ripped pants, and blood pouring down my leg, we run behind one of the houses in the abandoned neighborhood. Were alll sitting around trying to figure out what the fuck were gonna do now. We got cops waiting for us on BOTH ends... We decide that no matter what, as long as the don't CATCH us on the property, we can't get in trouble. I mean. Seriously, prove it was us that they saw running... It was the night of the fireworks, there were people everywhere. So, beind the abandoned neighborhood, it comes into some sort of residential neighborhood that's actually still inhabited. So, we figure as long as we can make it through the woods, out of state property, were good! I mean, yea... Trespassing onto private property is still a crime, but it was only a field and there was nothing posted, so, we had a good defense. So, we make it across these peoples fields, down a little side road and out onto the main fucking road! I've never been soooo happy to see the main road. My happiness was pretty fucking short lived when I realized we had about what seemed close to a threemile walk back to the cars. It was only about a mile, but being that we had just run a marathon, walking a mile seemed near impossible... Needless to say, we outran AND outsmarted the staties! Fuck yes!!!!! Anything you wanna add kev???

so on kicking that door open.... my shins still fucking throb. also i have blood blisters in the pattern of the wholes in my jersey on my shoulder ( which still fuckin kills ) from trying to jerry rice football knock the door open. i gave it heard sweat and sould everything i had to give it. round houses, running straight into it. fuckin just booted the shit out of it. locking mechanism, and door handle came off still locked door. defeated. sadley defeated. now jen forgot to mention the meylay in the morgue. as were heading up stairs the 10 headed 14 legged clawed hairey porcupine ( i saw it ) that was coming down the stairs scared the ever living fuck out of us. Jen superwoman leaped down thru everyone like a moshpit and turned into lance armstrong and went blasting down the hallway. Leah another girl in our group got so scared she punched me directly in the mouth and now her finger is swollen and purple and my jaw is a little sore. Going down stairs to find the door locked freaked the ever living shit out of me.still cant explain that one.
Next Jen had her share of diggers last night. She thought the gigantic hill we climed was a waterslide and went sliding on her ass down it. Not too bad though. just looked like she had mudbutt lol kiddin jen. But when we went to come out of the neighborhood we thought we were golden and all started strolling leisurly to find that cop. we all turned around and bolted. and i heard something hit the downed tree and as i looked over i saw jens knee dragging across the ground as she fell and slid a good ten feet. steve dragged her up immediatley as we took refuge behind a garage. with all the blood and dirt in the wound i must admit she was a trooper and still was right beside me in the lead and not whining at all unlike me who was bitching like an old lady about my shins.
which reminds me not to forget our marathon run. so we all get across the road, and were all hidden in the darkness of the buildings shadow when i think i see a clump of grass. now having been to norwich 8.3 billion times i know better than to shine my light near route 12. but i do neways and sure fuckin enough a statie sees it. kicks on the lights, spotlight, whips the car towards us and we all go running! leah was getting beaten up by her boobs everyone was hurting, and somehow, everyones pain went away and we all ran like virgin assholes away from anal sex. then the hillclimb from hell with no flashlights was the right thing to do but a pain to see.
Still not happy with the fact that no one wanted to pick us up even after i said we were sitting ducks. but we played the cat and mouse game and won.
I just want to thank everyone who came out on the treck with me that they did awesome sticking together, staying quiet, putting good ideas out and hopefully showed them a good time ^_^

Oh man kev! That shits funny as hell!!! LOL... Damn...last night reminded me of my juvenille years when it was cool to start trouble and then run... Only yhis time we were running for our damn lives! Oh man... But you know what? Gimme a chance and I'd do it ALL over again! We ran into some bumps and unfortunately for me some hills that I slid directly down. But overall, we didn't get caught! i wouldnt change a thing about that night. it was something different, than running around thru the complex and whatnot that we did the week before, and earlier in the night thru kettle. its crazy how addrenaline works. all that running, and me with asthma and being 215 and i wasnt out of breath at all. i loved it.

It's kinda funny, but the people who say that have never been inside. I challenge anyone to go through the place, tunnels and all, and say that nothing "funny" happens.
