Title: My my how UE has changed
Post by: Megster on April 10, 2019, 11:16:33 AM
A post on this facebook page https://www.facebook.com/AbandonedEasternPA about the two photography students who broke into a house got me thinking...how many of us still explore?

I know I don't, because these little cameras are cheap and everywhere now.  Hell my mother, who is almost 60 and a jogger, went running on some trails near her house and got captured by a game camera and the guy who owned the land actually found her one morning to yell at her for jogging on his property.  I'm like...how unhinged can someone be to track down a 60 year old to yell at her for jogging?

I just don't trust that abandoned places don't have these cameras now as the tech is cheap and everywhere.  Those girls had a clear camera in their faces and they didn't see it or they are just stupid.

So if you don't explore anymore, what ruined it for you?  I can barely remember the last time I went to a place without permission, lol.  I think maybe it was 2013.

Hi Meg.  Good to hear from you.  And thanks for starting this thread.

I personally don't explore today, mainly due to the fact that I barely have any time anymore. Frankly it's a shame that my life is so out of balance!

But, the spirit of exploring will always stay with me.  It's a life philosophy I think. Whether it's driving down a strange road, or exploring a trail in the woods with the scouts.. For now I enjoy The Curse of Oak Island.. until I can fully get back into more riskier exploring again.

Curious on other people's situations...

I still explore, although less than I used to before. That's just because I spend a lot more time working now. Sucks.

I very rarely explore anymore. Maybe once or twice a year at this point, at best.

I've come across game cameras before, and much more so in the last couple of years that I was exploring. Back in November at a Massachusetts State School they had a game camera that sent an alert right to the guards phone and he was in his patrol car checking it out within minutes.

I stopped for a long time. Went out one day to hit a pristine spot 8 hours from home. Trail cam busted us, then the cops got us. And I had to do a whole lot of driving to go home, and then back to court. Those cameras are sneaky. Always cover your face. Which is the new normal these days 🤣

It is sad to see this place pretty much dead.
