The news tonight said the Masonic Temple demo in Norwich CT is going to start at 8:30.  I plan on heading down there during my lunch break to take some pictures (11:00-12:00ish).

Thank you! I was so scared to mess up the site when I posted it though lol.  This article will also appear next week in The Resident, but it was here first!

BTW, I got my reporting job back.  It's really hard to juggle the full time web-design job with a part time reporting job...not to mention the pay is better at the Resident..., so I'm going back to full time reporting in two weeks!

I missed journalism so, so much after I left it last summer.  I didn't realize how much I missed it until things started happening that I wish I'd been there to cover (Jamestown Bridge demolition was one of the big ones).  I thought I'd miss out entirely on the Masonic Temple too but all of this fell together so fast and so unexpectedly.

It should be easier for me to write now that I have access to the right people to write an article the way I want to. lol

I have yet to do the Bara-Hack article, maybe this weekend (timely for Halloween!).  I'm going to try to get all my photos from August uploaded here and get all that out of the way before I go back to the paper because after that my time will certainly be more limited.  I might have to stay in Preston with my grandparents for a couple weeks with -gasp!- no internet just so I don't get behind on my bills/pay too much for gas while I'm transitioning.  Wee!!

Just a heads up that the temple is about half down.  Today is the day for pictures--I just got back from my lunch break and was down there when NFA got out.  I'll be posting more pics and video tonight!

Let's see...the Masonic Temple in Norwich was this giant art deco building built in 1928 over one of the Mohegan burial grounds and used as the meeting place for the free masons.  It also had a theater so sometimes local dance groups would hold shows there or plays, or whoever would rent the building.  The Mohegans bought the land & building back from the free masons around 1998 or so and wanted to turn it into a museum, but renovations for handicapped access would have cost about $6 million so they demo'd it in 2006 and put a park in its place.  I was so pissed to see the building go.
