Title: What's your favorite kind of building to explore?
Post by: Megster on May 17, 2011, 08:29:43 AM
Well, besides an abandoned one.

Some of us like hospitals, some like military, some like factories, what's your favorite?

Mine are private homes abandoned for more than 10 years with stuff left in them.  I could spend hours almost cataloging and photographing everything in these kinds of homes.  My favorite abandoned house is one that's incredibly unsafe and abandoned since 1957.  I drove by it the other day and I think unfortunately this winter did it in, but it's hard to see from the road.

I also like to explore things that are different.  Amusement parks have some great buildings if you can find them...

I like anything where I can dig up a little info. Period phots & postcards are great too. That usually means hospitals & military but some towns have great historical societies that throw up alot of great old photos. Hopefully as the old people die off and young blood takes over we'll see more HS going online.

I'm a fan of anything I can shoot, but for me drains, and heights, are where my heart lies. Something about being at the extreme end of the spectrum makes everything pop more for me. Underground is great, cause you kill your lights, and there's nothing but you, the people your with, and the sound of the earth. Heights just give you awesome views.
