Post by: Megster on March 31, 2010, 08:15:55 AM
Just in case those of you who have me friended on facebook missed it, here they are!

I was lucky enough to be at the Yantic River when it crested at its 3rd highest recorded level and breached a flood wall & flooded a local business.

And video too but from my blackberry so it's crap...currently can't find my old kodak which is better quality and what I used to take videos with in the past.

omg if I knew Old Mystic was that bad I would have gone today.  Is the water receding as fast as it did in Norwich?

I was down there yesterday and it was almost back to normal.  Bridge on 184 out, bridge on River Road out.  I uploaded some more pics to FB.

I guess RI won't be back to normal for a few days though, so maybe I'll have time to run up there for some pictures.

Watch out for random sink holes and pot holes if you do come over. 165 and 102 in Exeter in particular have some really bad spots. At the exeter country club on 102 the road is literally gone. Might be able to get some good photos there.

I want pics of the Laurel Ave. bridge in Coventry and the mill that partially collapsed into the river...used to hang out down there a lot 12 years ago so I actually do know back roads to get to the side I want to be on.  It's getting to the back roads that seem like it will be an issue!  According to the RI DOT map Rt. 118 is closed in the middle but 117 looks to be good enough.  We'll see...I know parts of RI almost as well as I do eastern CT, but you just never know where things will be closed now!

Took a ride to North Stonington yesterday, couldn't get access to the historic cafe that fell into the river there due to tons of cops milling about...but it is on my return list before they tear down the building.

Cops are not fun - worse are people who want to play cop.

Day after the flooding Police open rt 295N breakdown lane to travel, some douche bag decides he's going to be a hero and straddles the  slow land and breakdown lane because hes God.
