Norwich State Hospital?

Hi, I live in Ledyard and drive past NSH nearly everyday and have never knew much about it. I'm considering doing a speech on it for my public speaking class, but I've never attempted to go in any of the buildings. I was wondering what some of you who have been inside of it think about what went on there. Do you think any type of abuse went on or was everything done by the book? I appreciate any thoughts you care to give on this as I think the point of view of someone who'd been inside could help me make up my mind on what to believe.  Thanks
