I've lived here all my life and I've seen and lived in some places you guys might be interested in visiting. Some might not be very interesting, but they're not known by many. Even some locals don't even know the town where I lived for the first 10 years of my life (I won't give the name right now).

I mostly have been to wooded areas and large forests. Not too many abandoned buildings.

Lisbon
One place has a long stream/brook and man-made trails (most made by me and some friends) and it's a nice hang out spot. I only vaguely remember what some of it looked like, but if I was to go again, I'd definitely jump back to the days when I used to go every day. There is one small abandoned building that used to be part of a farm, I'm sure. REALLY small. I've never gone into it, but I sat on top. I was always too scared to walk alone down the dirt road. It wouldn't be trespassing if we went there.

UNNAMED TOWN I USED TO LIVE IN
My childhood home is no longer there. Along with a couple others. Extremely old, almost untouched area. Really old building that looks like a mill or some sort of factory. I've never been in there, but I've been all around it since I lived right there. It was unused before I was born (1984). I never saw any activity... not even explorers. Before my home was taken down, I went in several times after it was cleared out.

Small, private cemetery
Probably a family plot. I have heard a story about this. I heard it after I had gone there a couple times. Not from the person who showed me. From someone who asked me if I knew where it was and if I had heard the story behind it. I cannot substantiate the story, but it's likely not made up (regarding who the family was). But I let him know I knew exactly where it was that he was talking about and knew nothing of the history.

That's all for now. I know of more places that I can't think of right now, but those will have to wait until I can get all these locations down on paper. I'll ask friends from the past to fill in the holes.

I am willing to show only the operator(s) of this site the above locations, and only under the condition that they will NOT tell where they are. They are sort of private and important to me and I don't want people going to these locations and destroying them. They are not meant to be high profile and I don't wish to disrupt the land and buildings.

If the site operators are interested in the locations, please let me know and we can meet up and go to these places. I'm sure a day is plenty of time. Without snow, and the best time I have seen in these places are from spring to fall. I prefer a day without snow on the ground and the sun has to be out. Cold doesn't matter... I'll bundle up...

I'll tell the story about the history when we get there (what I heard and haven't looked into yet) and you can include information when pictures are posted. IF you're interested at all... in my mind, these places are important to me, but not so spectacular compared to other places already documented. I'm just offering undocumented places. And maybe pictures of my old town from the past if I can find good ones.

Hey, you were born in the same year as me.

And I know how you feel about shit getting destroyed.  My childhood home still exists but the people who moved in "renovated" it and turned it into a giant green birdhouse.  And I lived in a place most people don't know exists, like Sterling...but since I saw in another post that you currently live in Griswold, you probably know where Sterling is.  Almost all of my hangouts are gone now too.

...If you lived in Sterling I probably know you. haha.  Based on your description I don't think you did though...maybe the town south of it?

OH before I forget, I used to live in Griswold in a mobile home on Bethel Rd. from 1984-1987.  The people who live there now painted it red and it looks like a giant lego in the middle of the woods!  (It's on the sharp corner right near Osga Lane, you can't miss it.)  And if you went to GHS, chances are you know (or know of) my best friend.

I know one person from Sterling. And the year she was born was probably 1985-86. Well, not really KNOW her, she's the cousin of a friend.

I lived in the unnamed place (not Sterling), Lisbon and now Griswold. I went to Franklin Elementary (where I first heard of Devil's Den), Lisbon Central (where I discovered some secret areas mentioned above) and Norwich Tech (where I dropped out... haha). But my sister went to GHS and I know some people who did. I had some friends in Jewett City.

I actually know where Bethel Road is and have been all over the area. I should... I live on Rixtown Rd. I've also been in a car accident on the road. A few wooden posts got wrecked and a tree got scraped. The road thins out too much, especially when a huge truck comes barreling down the road.

If you decide you want to get in on this, let me know because I think I won't allow more than four besides myself. If the same people live in the only house left at my old neighborhood, we won't be suspicious characters because I'll talk to them and remind them of who I am. Besides, I don't think I'll ever attempt to get into the factory/mill if it's possible. Not that I'm against it... It's just that I had more than a few nightmares about that place growing up.

I work in Frankin right now, right off of Rt. 32.  It's about a mile north of the intersection of 32 and 207.  My dad used to live on 207, in fact we just moved him out last week.

In Sterling, everyone knows everyone, so I probably know your friend's cousin, haha.

I'd love to get in on this. I'm always looking for new places.  Too bad I can't really show you places I hung out in...I'll post what photos I have in the Storage Bunker.

Cool. We'll see what we can do once there's no snow. I'm going to really try to figure out some other things I've seen that maybe not a lot of people have been to. All that comes to mind are these three, Baltic woods (even had the balls to enter that huge concrete area... what is that place?), Maud's grave, Mt. Misery, Devil's Hopyard and a couple places that were either moved out of or were being built.

Katie Dean is the name of her cousin. I think I asked someone else before if they knew her since they live in Sterling.

How could I forget Montville/Uncasville/Oakdale? My grandparents have lived there for a long time now and my mom, uncle and grandfather work there. One of my uncles worked at Rand Whitney (closed?). If you go back to 1991, you'll find a story about a death at Rand Whitney. That was him.

Plus... you know those condos in Norwich across the water from Mohegan Sun? I worked there one day on a cleanup job after the frame got fire-proofed.

I might have found what the mill in my old town used to be. I won't say what it is because that would give away the location, but now I have possibly more information about it.

That is so odd-- I don't know your friend's cousin.  Most of my friends who still live there were born in '86, so I'm thinking maybe she moved to town after I moved out (2000).

I know Montville/Oakdale/Uncasville really well too because I used to date someone from there!  In fact, one of the houses on my website (soon to be uploaded here) was in Oakdale on Chapel Hill Rd, I think.  (Van Gogh House on my site--we give the places interesting names because when you've been in more than 30 houses, you need a way to differentiate lol)

I know the condos that you're talking about too--didn't it used to be the Thermos plant on Laurel Hill? My mom used to work there in 1979.

Sorry to hear about your uncle...

Yeah, I think there used to be something there before they cleared it for the condos. It didn't appear to be cleared out woods. And it was a large area. Actually a bigger construction site than all of them I went to while working as a fire proofer. Assumption College's new Science building was the second largest. Then obviously Gampel Pavilion, the building at the West parking garage and a girls dorm nearby.

I just verified that the place in my old town IS what I thought it might be. Just saw an old picture that showed me more of the area. Nice to finally put a name to it. Got a story with it, too...

I went to school (elementary through high school) with the kids that live in those condos and the surrounding area.
I like jews. And fires. But not together.

I don't work, so I have all the time in the world except between 2PM-2AM on Saturday. The private cemetery area is best left for daytime on a weekday. I haven't been down there in a while, but I think someone lives near it and the front and back entries are in plain sight from the house.

The other two are come-as-you-please. The above area would be only if the people in the house are nice... which is very likely.

Just let me know. I don't have a license, so I'd need a ride to the Lisbon site and the old neighborhood.

Just so you know, I'm not a scary person or a serial killer or anything... please refer to my MySpace profile for a picture and whatnot... http://www.myspace.com/Inyo_FACE

I could probably do it on a weekday, but I work Monday-Friday 9-5 in Franklin.

The cemetery doesn't have to be on a weekday... that was just me thinking ahead to the possibilities of being seen. Me and a few friends went a couple times on the weekend and during the week and weren't seen even though I was assured people lived there. It'd be easier if a friend still lived across the street from it, but it's the only good way to get to a certain area behind it... so I don't see it being a problem.

Weekend daytime is best for all of them since there's no real danger. If there's no lingering in Lisbon (big area) or the other place, all is easily done during the day on one day. Lisbon should be done last so I wouldn't have to be dropped off out of the way in Griswold. I have family and friends down there.

Oh, and since you're a writer... I have had years of writer's block and can't get anything going as far as my many ideas for screenplays, etc. If you want to work as a collaborator on some of them, I'd appreciate it. I am willing to pay a quarter of the profits from the sale of the scripts. I need 25% to live and 50% to start the east coast branch of my business that is to serve as my main source of money.

I have ideas for 10-13 scripts. Plus so many ideas for other projects. I plan on attempting the sale of about 10 of the existing script ideas. Potentially 75,000-200,000 a piece. 2 of them are scripts I actually wrote in full before I was 16 (I wrote 3, but one was a fan script). All 3 were left in my old house when I emptied my room and left. I wasn't allowed to take my songs, movies, etc because I had 5 2-foot stacks of writings and no room in the truck.

I do have some connections here and there and the know-how to sell them. I just have trouble writing because I delete or throw away anything I write because I criticize it too harshly. Mostly, I wrote for Boycott RIAA and some other things for the hell of it.

Nothing's guaranteed... otherwise I would have gotten some meetings when I was 16... but like I said, a cut of the profits is in order if the collaboration sells.

Canceled Saturday 2PM-2AM... damn casino took my money last night... so I can't afford the show...

I've written for money before and I wasn't too happy doing it.  And I did a novel collaboration with one of my friends that ran up to 300 pages and then we both stopped working on it and neither one of us has touched in more than five years.

I'm uninspired too, which is why I switched from writing to photography.

Yeah, I'm not too excited about writing for money either. But I guess it's not an option for me. I can't let these ideas sit without fnishing them. They're really unfinished thoughts and it's driving me crazy.
