Hey...I'm curious as to why no one brought up Weird New England by Joseph Citro that was released around Christmas last year.  Lots of abandoned places...I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes by mentioning it.

Anyway...lots of interesting places in it.  Where have you been from the book--did it inspire you to check out a new place or two?

I own all the Weird NJ publications, the magazines as well as the books, there really wasn't anything "new" to me in the New England book and most of the reviews on other local UE sites point out once it is discussed in a Weird NJ site the site isn't viable anymore due to too many kids, graffiti etc.
Don't worry, if you die....We'll make it.

The Weird NE book is the only book I own out of all the publications. There's some odd stuff in there that I never heard about.  The only new place I checked out was "Haunted" Downs Rd. in Hamden/Bethany CT (because there supposedly was a cabin on the road in 2001) and only found 3 or 4 old foundations.  Otherwise it was a very nice walk...not creepy at all.  I tried to find out why the towns of Hamden and Bethany closed that stretch of the road and when, because it (now) cuts the road in half.  Now it would be too costly to repair and re-open, especially since there are brand new cul-de-sacs on each end.  The road actually used to be paved--it's very obvious when you're on it but not so much in the picture shown in the book.

I actually just bought the Weird New England Book probably about a month ago.. I think it was a good read but most of the stuff I had already heard about on the internet. There are also a lot of places that seem pretty well known that weren't even mentioned in the book.

thats a low blow meg lol just kiddin i read that book its decent

The book talks about some abandoned places, it has a whole section dedicated to it actually, Norwich State & Holy Land USA are in there from what I remember but all my local history books are in storage at the moment :(
