Urban Exploration / Return to American Brass Compl...
Last post by nassahegon73 - August 20, 2016, 01:05:26 PM
I was very surprised at how easy it was to explore this former brass mill. It lies behind a strip mall and the doors are wide open. On my first trip I explored a building that was clearly derelict. The second time I entered a building that had cars parked in front of it but was vacant inside. That second building was the rolling mill and was last occupied by a hazardous waste treatment company. There were four 10,000 gallon tanks that once contained hazardous waste and some machinery. Here is a link to a blog post with photos:

Urban Exploration / Return to Winchester Arms

Here is a link to a blog post detailing my extensive exploration of this great ruin. The complex is composed of three five-story buildings that are connected, a small powerhouse, a three-story building that has partially collapsed, and a two-story structure connected to the rest of the complex by a walkway.

I love the area around the casinos. The mill towns and rural communities tell a compelling story. I particularly like the abandoned mills and numerous burial plots. I intend to write a book on the industrial history of Connecticut which begins with the exodus from the country to Norwich and other mill towns.

Here is a link to a blog post with photos about this large complex in New Haven. It took me about half an hour to explore one five-story building and part of another. There is a lot to see here and the complex is easy to access.

you really have taken the exploration of abandoned sites to a level I've never seen. good job.
I checked out your other pieces and the westerly-norwich railway was one in which I never heard of. I used to
roam around those lands when I lived just up the road near the end of lantern hill rd.

Here is a link to a blog post with photos about this site in New Haven. There are not many abandoned sites left in New Haven due to the favorable market so I was glad to get a chance to explore this ruin.
